This past Friday was celebrated the beauty contest, Miss Earth Mexico 2008. It was held at Siglo XXI in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico and was conducted by Paco de la O. After the contest, there was a performance by singer Yahir.
The winner was the lady representing the Coahuila State, and she will represent Mexico on the world contest.
The difference with this beauty contest is that it has an ecological tint, as the theme for Miss Earth are the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air. Have they included the Ether (or Aether), they would have had the complete 5 elements set of the ancient Greek; which, by the way, where the same elements used by the Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Japanese... humankind is not very creative as a whole. Same reason why every culture around the world built pyramids. Anyway, I think they should pair the contest with the excellent R&B group, Earth, Wind & Fire :-)
